<br />Hastings, Minnesota <br />January 26, 1998 <br /> <br />The City Council of the City of Hastings, Minnesota met in a special meeting on Monday, <br />January 26, 1998 at 7:00 p.m. in the Volunteer Room at the Hastings City Hall, 101 4th St., East, <br />Hastings, Minnesota. <br /> <br />Members Present: <br /> <br />Councilmember Yandrasits, Johnson, Hicks, Moratzka & Mayor <br />Werner <br /> <br />Members Absent: <br /> <br />Councilmember Simacek and Riveness <br /> <br />NRRC Members Present: <br /> <br />Janet Swanson, Turney Hazlet, Tim McInnis, Dean Crissinger <br />and Lance Twedt <br /> <br />Staff Members Present: <br /> <br />John Grossman, HRA Direc}ür; <br />Marty McNamara, Parks & Recreation Director; <br />and Dave Osberg, City Administrator <br /> <br />Mayor Werner opened the meeting and asked Parks & Recreation Director Marty McNamara <br />to introduce Bruce Chamberlain, the Consultant hired by the City of Hastings to assist with the <br />preparation of a parks plan. <br /> <br />Mr. Chamberlain reviewed the results of a community wide visioning session held at 7 :00 <br />p.m. on Tuesday, January 13, 1998 at the Hastings Annory to gain community input for the update <br />of the Hastings park plan. Mr. Chamberlain advised the City Council that approximately 30 <br />participants were present, and broke into six small groups. Several exercises were conducted to <br />gather input. <br /> <br />Mr. Chamberlain reviewed with the City Council the results of the findings. <br /> <br />Mr. Chamberlain reviewed with the City Council the first exercise which was an <br />identification of the favorite places of those participating in the session. <br /> <br />Mr. Chamberlain also reviewed with the City Council the results of an exercise that asked <br />the participants to identify the characteristics that define Hastings. <br /> <br />Mr. Chamberlain also reviewed with the City Council the results of the exercise that <br />identified what the community of Hastings wants to be in the future and the characteristics that <br />comprise the vision for the future of Hastings. Another exercise included an effort to determine the <br />community importance placed on the visionary characteristics for Hastings. <br />
