CHARTF..R COTir4ISSTON N:INI3TE5 <br />May 31, 1986 <br />Present: Earl Beltz, Charles Caturia, Dick Dobrick, Judith Gilbert, Wint <br />Hartman, Jeanne McGree <br />Absent: Michael Hovgaard, Janice Johnson <br />The meeting was called to order b~~ Chairperson Caturia at 9:40 a. m. in the <br />City Hall Council Chambers, <br />Dick Dobrick reported that he had discussed contributions with representatives <br />of the Internal Revenue Service and the Minnesota Department of Revenue, and was <br />told that contributions to the Charter Commission to be used for public purposes <br />bbl the Commission (including an advertisement explaining the proposed charter <br />changes} would be tax deductible on both Federal and state income tax returns. <br />He also reported receiving contributions of X200 so far. <br />Dick Dobrick will follow up with Gary Brown ar Dianne Latuff regarding avail- <br />ability of absentee ballots and the publishing by the Citg of the full taxi of <br />the proposed changes. <br />Speeches explaining the proposed charter changes will be made as follows: <br />Lions: June 12 Earl Beltz <br />Kiwanis: Noon June 17 Earl Beltz <br />E'3rening " 17 Chuck Caturia <br />Toastmasters " 18 Dick Dobrick <br />Ministerial Association Earl Be1tz <br />Commission members are asked to try to secure items in their respective church <br />bulletins announcing the special election. <br />Each Corr~*nission member is urged to discuss the proposed changes with their <br />friends and attempt to obtain commitments to vote for the changes from 50 <br />persons apiece. Reports to be made at the next meeting, June '12th, of the <br />ntamber of commitments obtained. <br />Jeanne McGree will contact KDWA regarding discussion of the proposed charter <br />changes on their morninp_ radio news programs. <br />Wint Hartman will contact Keith Horsch regarding an advertisement in the <br />Hastings Star-Gazette and the Trade Winds. <br />Wint Hartman and Chuck Caturia will develop a letter to be sent out by the <br />Chai;iber of Corunerce to its members o <br />The meetinr~ was adjourned at 10:45 a. m. <br />i ',~,~ ji - ~, , <br />Dick Dobrick <br />Acting secretary <br />
