HASTINGS CHARTER COMMISSION <br />RESOLUTION OF HASTINGS CHARTER COMMISSION <br />RECOMMENDING A CHANGE IN HASTINGS <br />CITY CHARTER SECTION 4.Q1 <br />REGARDING EMERGENCY MEETINGS AND RECOMMENDING <br />THIS AMENDMENT BE APPROVED BY ORDINANCE <br />October 19, 1995 <br />Commissioner Brown introduced the fallowing Resolution and <br />moved its adoption: <br />WHEREAS, Hastings City Charter Section 4.01 specifies when an <br />emergency meeting may be called by the City Council, and <br />WHEREAS, the Minnesota Open Meeting Law (Minn. Stat. X471.705) <br />also provides direction on when an emergency meeting may be called <br />by a city council, and <br />WHEREAS, the definition of emergency meeting in state law <br />should be incorporated into Section 4.01. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Hastings Charter <br />Commission, as follows: <br />1. Section 4.01 of the Hastings City Charter Shall be <br />amended to read as follows: <br />EMERGENCY COUNCIL MEETINGS. An emergency meeting is a <br />meeting_.called because of circumstances that, <br />in the judgment of the mayor, or any three <br />members of the Coun_ciJ., requires immediate <br />consideration by the Council. Only matters <br />relating to said emergency may be considered <br />at this meeting. The City shall also <br />comply with all requirements of the Open <br />Meeting Law in effect at that time. <br />
