<br />VIII-C-3 <br /> <br />MEMORANDUM <br /> <br />TO: <br />FROM: <br />DATE: <br />SUBJECT: <br /> <br />Honorable Mayor and City Council members <br />Dave Osberg, City Administrator <br />October 28, 2004 <br />Appointment of Building Official/Code Enforcement Supervisor <br /> <br />Recommended City Council Action <br /> <br />It is the recommendation of the Administrative Committee that the City Council take <br />action authorizing the appointment of current "Interim Building Official/Code <br />Enforcement Supervisor, Tom Bakken to the position of Supervisor of Inspections and <br />Building Safety, with an effective date of November 2, 2004. <br /> <br />Background <br /> <br />On Thursday October 14, 2004 Administrative Committee members Lynn Moratzka and <br />Ed Riveness, Melanie Mesko Lee, John Hinzman and I conducted interviews with four <br />candidates for the position of Building Official/Code Enforcement Supervisor. After <br />completion of the interviews, it is the recommendation of the members of the <br />Administrative Committee along with City Staff involved in the interviews that Tom <br />Bakken be appointed to the position. The recommended conditions of employment that <br />I am suggesting be approved include: <br /> <br />--Start at the Level "0" rate, moving to the Level "C" rate, after six months, provided a <br />successful probation period has been completed. <br /> <br />--An adjustment to the "After 6 Years" vacation rate upon appointment, with an <br />adjustment to the "After 8 Y ears" va~ation rate after successful completion of the six <br />month probationary period. Subsequent adjustments in both compensation and vacation <br />would be completed at the normal rate and schedule. <br /> <br />A copy of Tom Bakken's resume has been attached for your review. <br /> <br />
