<br />1480 <br /> <br />Hastings, Minnesota <br />May 20, 1974 <br /> <br />The City Council of the City of Hastings, Minnesota met in a <br />regular meeting on Monday, May 20, 1974 at 8:00 o'clock P.M. in the <br />Council Chambers of the City Hall. <br /> <br />Members present: Councilmen collins, Schnirring, Kramer, <br />Hallberg, O'Connor, Fischer, Driscoll and <br />Novak and Mayor Petersen. <br /> <br />Members absent: None. <br /> <br />Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. <br /> <br />The Mayor declared open the Public Hearing on the amendment to <br />the Zoning Ordinance, Section 10.05, Subdivision 6, Fences and Walls or <br />Hedges, dated December 7th, 1970. <br /> <br />No one appeared in opposition to the Amendment, the Mayor de- <br />clared the Hearing closed. <br /> <br />Moved by Councilman Novak, seconded by Councilman Hallberg to <br />pass the third and final reading of the Amendment to the Zoning Ordinance <br />Section 10.05, Subdivision 6, Fences and Walls or Hedges, dated December <br />7th, 1974. Ayes, all; Nayes, none. JA' 2 0 <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HASTINGS, as follows: <br />AMENDMENT TO ZONING ORDINANCE <br /> <br />Subdivision 6, Fences and Walls or Hedges. <br /> <br />a) Allowed, but shall not obstruct view. <br />Notwithstanding other provisions of <br />this Chapter, fences, walls and hedges <br />are permitted in any yard, including a <br />required yard, or along the edge of any <br />yard, provided that no fence, wall or <br />hedge along the side or front edge of <br />any front yard shall be over thirty in- <br />ches in height where the fence, wall, <br />or hedge would obstruct the view from <br />a driveway or street. <br /> <br />b) Hazardous fences and walls. Hazardous <br />fences and walls such as barbed wire, <br />electric fences, chain link with barbs <br />exposed, and walls with protruding sharp <br />edges thereof, and other fences and walls <br />designed for, or likely to cause harm to <br />persons are declared hazardous and are <br />prohibited in the city, except as follows: <br />conventional barbed wire fences with barbs <br />exposed are allowed with permission of <br />the City Council by simple resolution in <br />commerciallyzoned areas, and are allowed <br />without permission of the City Council in <br />Industrial and Agriculturally zoned areas. <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br /> <br />Z; .
