<br />VI-7 <br /> <br />Memorandum <br /> <br />To: <br />From: <br />Re: <br />Date: <br /> <br />Ma'yor Werner & City Councilmembers <br />Melanie Mesko Lee, Assistant City Administrator <br />Finance Office Assistant Position Evaluation & Recommendation <br />November 1, 2005 <br /> <br />Council Action Reauested: <br />Approve the attached position description and salary range for a Finance department <br />office assistant position. <br /> <br />Backaround Information: <br />As a result of Lori Webster's absence, the City Council approved some departmental <br />changes in December 2004. One of these changes included authorization to hire a <br />temporary staff person to assist with departmental responsibilities. The Council <br />approved an extension of this position through the end of 2005. The temporary staff <br />that was hired is no longer in the position; therefore, staff is requesting that this position <br />be changed from a temporary status to a regular, part-time status position and will <br />assist with a variety of clerical and office support needs of the department. <br /> <br />Attached is a review of the position duties and a proposed value for the position and a <br />corresponding salary. <br /> <br /> <br />I nteractionsl <br />Communications <br />Work Environment <br /> <br />Equivalent to high school diplomalGED <br />and 1-2 ears of ex erience <br />Confined impact of judgment (policies <br />are clear), and provides information in <br />.ob related decision makin rocess <br />3C+ Challenges are generally covered by <br />114 points precedent but may also be addressed <br />within broader, department-wide <br />procedures & practices and must <br />choose best alternative from <br />ossibilities <br />Specialized information related to basic <br />rocedures & ractices <br />Low, minimal potential for accidents <br /> <br /> <br />Formal Preparation & <br />Ex erience <br />Decision Making <br /> <br />Thinking/Problem <br />Solving <br /> <br />The total adjusted point value for this position is 449 points, between the value of other <br />office support staff positions in other departments and the police secretary position. <br />Accordingly, I would propose the following salary structure for consideration: <br />
