<br />HASTINGS HERITAGE PRESERVATION COMMISSION <br /> <br />Minutes of Meeting, April 18, 2006, 7:00p.m., City Hall <br /> <br />I. Quorum: Commissioners Behnke, Goderstad, Hellie, Hicks, Martin, St. James, Simacek, <br />Sovik Siemens, and Warg present. Staff: Grossman and Phillips. Chairperson Goderstad <br />called the meeting to order. <br /> <br />II. Minutes of March 21, 2006. St. James moved and Martin seconded approval ofthe <br />minutes; motion carried, 9-0. <br /> <br />III. Review of building permits or design proposals. <br /> <br />220 7th St. W. Amy Martin. New drip edge. Simacek moved and St. James seconded <br />approval; Martin declared a possible conflict and abstained; motion carried; 8-0-1 abstention. <br /> <br />Martin requested approval to replace a drip cap on the bay window that had been removed. It <br />will be used to protect the window from ice and water damage. Metal or other types of drip <br />edge are allowed but must be compatible with the historic appearance of the house. <br /> <br />IV. Business. <br /> <br />A. Nominations for annual preservation awards: <br />. 221 E. 2nd St. (Gardner House) <br />. 719 W. 3rd St. <br />. 511 W. 4th St. <br />. 402 W 7th St. <br />. 121 E. 6th St. <br />. 119 E. 8th St. <br /> <br />The commissioners voted on a list of nominees for the annual preservation award. St. <br />James moved and Hicks seconded this list; motion carried; 9-0. Photos of houses that will be <br />considered for next years nominations for preservation awards will be saved. <br /> <br />B. Resolution 1-2006, adoption of design guidelines. <br />St. James moved and Martin seconded the resolution; motion carried; 9 - O. <br /> <br />V. Information and reports. <br /> <br />A. Designation of additional properties. Staff report. <br />PlanninglHPC Intern, Larry Phillips, is in the process of making a list of additional properties <br />houses that maybe up for designation. The list will be composed of 159 properties and a map <br />showing the location of these properties will be included. <br />
