HASTINGS HERITAGE PRESERVATION COMMISSION Minutes of Meeting, April 18, 2006, 7:00p.m., City Hall I. Quorum: Commissioners Behnke, Goderstad, Hellie, Hicks, Martin, St. James, Simacek, Sovik Siemens, and Warg present. Staff: Grossman and Phillips. Chairperson Goderstad called the meeting to order. II. Minutes of March 21, 2006. St. James moved and Martin seconded approval ofthe minutes; motion carried, 9-0. III. Review of building permits or design proposals. 220 7th St. W. Amy Martin. New drip edge. Simacek moved and St. James seconded approval; Martin declared a possible conflict and abstained; motion carried; 8-0-1 abstention. Martin requested approval to replace a drip cap on the bay window that had been removed. It will be used to protect the window from ice and water damage. Metal or other types of drip edge are allowed but must be compatible with the historic appearance of the house. IV. Business. A. Nominations for annual preservation awards: . 221 E. 2nd St. (Gardner House) . 719 W. 3rd St. . 511 W. 4th St. . 402 W 7th St. . 121 E. 6th St. . 119 E. 8th St. The commissioners voted on a list of nominees for the annual preservation award. St. James moved and Hicks seconded this list; motion carried; 9-0. Photos of houses that will be considered for next years nominations for preservation awards will be saved. B. Resolution 1-2006, adoption of design guidelines. St. James moved and Martin seconded the resolution; motion carried; 9 - O. V. Information and reports. A. Designation of additional properties. Staff report. PlanninglHPC Intern, Larry Phillips, is in the process of making a list of additional properties houses that maybe up for designation. The list will be composed of 159 properties and a map showing the location of these properties will be included.
