Public Hearing: City Code Amendment- Chickens <br /> Hinzman summarized the history of amending City Code to allow chickens in <br /> residential areas and discussed the proposed ordinance amendment. <br /> Public hearing opened at 7:11 p.m. <br /> Seventeen residents spoke in person or via Zoom on the proposed amendment. <br /> Three residents provided perspectives that were not in favor of allowing <br /> chickens in residential areas; fourteen residents provided perspectives in favor <br /> of the proposed amendment. <br /> Public hearing closed at 8:03 p.m. <br /> Council posed clarifying questions about renters,zoning, neighbor engagement <br /> and notification, and permit length. Council discussed the history of the topic <br /> addressed at prior Council meetings, the experiences of neighboring cities that <br /> allow chickens in residential areas, and referendum. Council posed questions <br /> about ordinance language, enforcement, and impact on staff time. <br /> 2.
