Minutes of the Meeting of September 17, 2002
I. Quorum: Simacek, LaBreck, Boler, Langenfeld, Sovik-Siemcns, Craft. Meeting called to
order by Vice-chair Langenfeld at 7 p.m.
II. Minutes of August 20, 2002: Motion by Boler, second by Simacek to approve minutes.
IlL Review of building permits or design proposals
A. Applications
1. 307 W.. 7th Street. Chuck & Patty Rich. Re roofing. Motion by Crat~,
second by Boler to approve replacement of existing with new shingles; motion
carried.
2. 120 E. 7th Street. Wes and Joan Lund. Sidewalk and step replacement..
Motion by Simacek, second by Boler to approve replacement of concrete steps
with wooden steps with square posts and finials as shown in proposed design;
motion carried.
B. City Hall.
1. Sculpture. Review committee meeting on Pasch sculpture proposed location.
Motion by Boler, second by Sovik-Siemens to approve location of new
sculpture on north lawn, motion carried.
2. Compressor. Review proposed location for air conditioning compressor for
cable roon~ Motion by Boler, second by Craft to approve location of
compressor outside council chamber exit, with addition of shrubs if necessary;
motion carried.
C. Review staff or committee approval
113-117 Second. Meyer Company, tuckpoint and paint. No comment.
IV. Unfinished business
A. Adopt 2002 Design Guidelines. Motion by Boler, second by LaBreck adopting 2002
Design Guidelines for future use. Motion carried, 6-0.
B. Open House for Pioneer Room volunteers September 22. Set-up will begin at
noon. Plaques, cake, supplies will be taken care of by Langenfeld, Sovlk-Siemens and
LaBreck. Open house from 1 to 3 p.m. with presentations at 2 p.m. Invitations and
newspaper announcements sent out.
V. New business
120 W. 7th Street. Jim and Mary Conroy. Boler noted large reta'ming wall installed
without review; the garage project had been reviewed. Indicates a need for some
oversight on approved projects.
VI. Reports
A. Annual Training and Preservation Conference. Reports by Boler and Sovik-Siemens.
B. Riverfi'ont trail interpretive markers. Report by staff.
C. LeDuc House progress report by staff..
VII. Adjournment. Motion by Craft, second by Boler; motion carried.
