Minutes of the Meeting of June 18, 2002
1. Quorum: Boler, Craft, Goderstad, LaBreck, Langenfeld, Simacek and Warg.
IL Minutes of May 21, 2002: Motion by Boler to approve with an amendment: insert under C.
Elisabeth Ann Seton School, a reference to the guidelines which Boler included in her motion on
that question as follows: "(03) Additions to Principal Buildings, A. Massing and Scale. New
dwellings and commercial buildings hould be compatible with the height of existing adjacent
buildings", second by Craft; motion carried.
IlL Review of building permits or design proposals
A. 705 Vermillion - Dan Griel - access ramp design. Motion be Boler, second by Craft
to approve design as submitted; motion carried.
B. 218 E Second - Steve Green - sign design. Motion by Warg, second by Simacek to
approve design as submitted; motion carried.
C. 204 E. 2'd St.- Dave Muller - material for replacement awning. Motion by Boler,
second by Craft accepting committee report of approval for awning material; motion carried.
IV. Unfinished business
Design Guidelines and Ordinance Amendments. The commission discussed the last
draft with Carole Zellie, the consultant working on this project, and made a few revisions. The
final version will be prepared for the public open house. Open House to be on July 10, 2002.
V. Reports
A. Modular buildings, zoning code, special use permits. Council committee for
Planning will discuss possible amendment to zoning code. No proposals have been made at this
time.
B. LeDuc House. Progress has been made by City, Dakota County Historical Society
and Minnesota Historical Society on what work should be done to make the house accessible for
interpretation.
C. Pioneer Room. Dick Darsow will officially step down now that the City has hired
Cindy Smith to be the new curator for the Pioneer Room. A recognition open house will be
planned for Dick and for Ethel Theiling.
VI. Adjournment. Motion by Goderstad, second by Craft; motion carried.
