Thieling and R. Olson by invitation for the context review. Absent: Commissioners Simacek, Smith and Fuchs 2. Minutes of the Meeting of April 12, 1993. Ms. Coutu moved and Mr. Thorsen seconded approval. Motion carried. 3. Review remodeling plans for 409 W Second. Marie Coutu presented the remodeling plans for 409 W. Second. The HPC reviewed and approved the proposed work as follows. The interior work is not listed as it does not appear to affect the exterior appearance or the structural integrity of the building. Porches - front, back and side; repair or replace as built or with replica posts Gable ornament - repair or replace with replica ornament Soffets and fascia - repair or replace as built Siding - remove existing shingles, repair or replace with wood lap siding. Painting - all exposed wood, colors as approved for garage. Removals - the part of the attached garage (not original) behind the house with the pitched roof, and the front porch rail (not original) unless building code prevents. Windows - no existing windows are to be replaced. The third floor attic vents may be removed and replaced with windows, provided they fit the existing openings. The commissioners found that the proposed work is consistent with the rehabilitation standards established by the Secretary of the Interior for National Register properties. This review was preliminary in the sense that a building permit had not yet been applied for, however, in so far as the permit work will be the same as proposed above, RPC perm/t approvat can be expected. 4. Review of draft context study mailed out prior to meeting. The Commissioners, and Mr. Darsow, Mr. Olson and Mrs. Thieling reviewed the draft context study page by page. Corrections and suggestions were noted on the drafts and in notes taken to be sent back to Ms. Zellie for her guidance. 5. Adjournment Ms. Coutu moved and Mr. Thorsen seconded adjournment. Motion carried.
