Subject: Heritage Preservation Commission- 3 expired terms
REQUEST
The City Council is asked to approve one reappointment and authorize advertising for
three vacancies on the Heritage Preservation Commission:
REAPPOINTMENT
Amy Martin – reappointment– 1/1/09 to 12/31/11
Commissioner Martin has served on the HPC for two terms since 2003. The HPC has
asked that the City Council reappoint Commissioner Martin for another term.
The HPC will now have 3 vacancies that they would like to fill. One vacancy is from last
year when there was only application made for two vacancies. The two other vacancies
are from Commissioners that did not seek reappointment when their terms expired this
year: David Warg had served 4 terms since 1996 and Mel Behnke served 1 ½ terms since
2005. Mel Behnke has agreed to continue to serve until a replacement is found.
BACKGROUND
The HPC has 9 members with 3 terms expiring every year. These appointments should
have been done in December, but staff was behind schedule in notifying the 3
Commissioners that their terms were expiring.
