Subject: Veterans Park Trail Project
I have enclosed a map of the proposed trail alignments that would be coordinated with the
Industrial Park Improvement Project. This trail addition project accomplishes some goals
that have been identified in the approved comprehensive park plan. The new trail additions
would enhance the ability for residents coming from the south to utilize the City wide trail
system which is non existent at the present time. The trail additions would also enhance
the overall trail experience and finally, the additional trail proposals coordinate nicely with
what the baseball community has proposed at a past meeting regarding the baseball field.
In addition to the trail additions and according to our approved comprehensive park plan, it
st
was suggested to investigate an alternate vehicle access into Vet’s Park off of 21 Street to
minimize congestion and improve access into the park that would reduce the visitor from
traveling through an industrial park.
The Parks and Recreation Department has been setting funding aside for this project for
three years and I am also seeking grants for this project.
I am seeking from the NRRC a recommendation regarding the trail alignments and possible
alternate access into the park.
