existing holes in the masonry.

Fortney gave the staff report. The applicant would like to install a new chimney pipe on the side

IV. Business
A.Form preservation award committee for spring 2009
Commissioners Dahl, Martin, and Sovik-Siemens volunteered to serve on the award committee
and develop a list of nominations for April.
B.Discuss spring preservation letter
Fortney said there are three sizes to choose from for the postcard that Commissioner Dahl and he
have developed for the spring mailing. The back of the postcard has the preservation site and
district map, which has been reformatted and updated. Fortney added that he condensed the
proposed text to fit on the smaller postcard sizes if the Commission chose one of them. Fortney
ended by saying that he also included a notice for the vacant commission positions.
Commissioner Martin said the larger postcard size is preferred.
Dahl said when writing the text, her goal was to make the owners feel like part of the
preservation efforts rather than make them feel like they were being ordered to preserve their
property. She added that the larger size postcards would be most beneficial.
V.Information and Reports
A.Council Committee for Historic Preservation
Fortney said that since the Ordinance and Comprehensive Plan are currently supportive of
preservation and no changes are pending, there is no immediate need to meet with the Council
Committee on Preservation. Fortney added that it may be a good idea to meat with them prior to
future designation studies.
Goderstad said they will not pursue a meeting at this time.
