Re: Award Contract - 2009 Seal Coat Program
Bids were opened for the 2009 Seal Coat Program on Tuesday, May 19, 2009.
The low base bid came in about 2.5% less than our constriction cost estimate and
$3,155.191ower than the $130,000 2009 Seal Coat budget. The additional costs of
alternate 1 and alternate 2 do not meet our 2009 budget allowance. However, to fiilly
utilize the dollars allocated for the pavement management fiord, the $3469.04 collectively
saved on the three pavement management bid openings (Seal Coat: $3,155.19, Crack Seal:
$1,676.25, Cul-de-sac: -$1,362.40) will be expended on sealing two additional cul-de-sacs.
The two cul-de-sacs added to the 2009 Cul-de-sac Program will be Oak Ridge Lane and
Zweber Lane.
Enclosed for Council approval is a resolution awarding the contract to the low bidder,
Caldwell Asphalt Company, in the amount of the base bid of $126,844.81.
