The flagpole would be shorter than the light on the pole so the light shines on the flag. This would take care of the Flag etiquette requirements. The height of the pole would depend upon the height of the light pole; I think the light pole is about 40 foot so the flagpole would probably be 30 foot. City would determine necessary height. Flagpole itself would need to be an internal type tapered wind resistant to about 90 mph. (what ever the city codes require) All weather flag, probably 5X8 foot. East Hastings Improvement can supply $1,500.00 or so toward the project which covers a good share of the cost from my research. If need be we can hit up the local folks for more cash, the cost to the city would be the time, materials and labor for installation and maintenance as required for a flag and well designed flag pole.. We would supply the $1500 if the pole was less expensive than the remainder toward the installation and flag. Or we can beg the difference form local groups. There may need to be a plaque for recognition of donors That is the good news and we believe it is a worthwhile project increasing the over all well being of the citizens of Hastings, the bad news is we want in installed prior to 9AM July 4, 2009 to be dedicated by the Mayor on his welcome th opening statements for the 4 celebration. (However, if the date is not practical we can be flexible on the date.) Thank you, Harold
