RE: 2010 Preliminary Budget Presentation

This special meeting of the Council was called to conduct a workshop on the 2010

budget in order to set the preliminary levy on September 8, 2009. By law the
preliminary levy must be certified to the County’s taxation department before September
th
15.
The Finance Committee which is chaired by council person Dana Elling Schultz has met
on numerous occasions this spring to prepare for this budget session. On August 26,
the Finance Committee members met and are recommending a tax levy to be set at the
same level as 2009 in the amount of $11,581,000.
I will be going through a slide presentation of the 2010 budget to inform the rest of the
council members and the Mayor of the details of this budget and present the
recommendations of the Finance committee.
Recommended Council Action:
No action is needed tonight; adoption of the preliminary levy will take place at the next

regular meeting on September 8.

this reduction leaves $70,000 in the budget, if the remaining MVC is received this ERF could recevie the 100,000.
