LOCAL JAM
was held on March 4, at 2 Street Coffee Shop. The performers were outstanding as

nd
always and we are very close to fulfilling our goal for the 2010 Youth Planning Council Scholarship.
The process of choosing a local recipient will begin soon.
Alternative Spring Break is March 15 ? 18, 2010 and is gaining momentum. This is a collaborative
?
opportunity for Middle and High School youth to be involved in community service and fun activities
during Spring Break. We were very fortunate to receive a $2,000.00 grant from Ruth Gale and George
W. Doffing Charitable Gift Fund to help grow this program. Please take a moment to check out the
website at www.morethanbreak.com.
Spring Swing
Something new is . This is a collaborative initiative to get Senior Citizens and youth
?
together to breakdown stereo types and form new friendships. The date for this is set for April 25,
2010 with the ever popular Riverside Trio performing at The Event Center. Ticket price of $15.00
includes dinner, music and priceless time together forming intergenerational friendships. Look for
marketing coming soon!
Sports/Coaches Summit
Another new initiative is the where Green Mill and Youth First look to show
?
appreciation to local coaches and sports providers for all of their efforts. Youth First will sponsor
speaker Frank White who will share his wisdom gained throughout many years of officiating. Youth
First then will invite sports providers to a round table discussion regarding program duplication and
confusion amongst parents of Hastings youth. How can we do a better job of providing for the Hastings
community? This one will be a challenge!
?
Celebrate Youth week scheduled for May 17 ? 22. Planning is progressing nicely, and more information

will be provided as it approaches.
