HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution-Council CommitteesRESOLUTION HASTINGS CHARTER COMMISSION HASTINGS, MINNESOTA October 8, '1987 Commissioner Lee introduced the following Resolution and recommended its adoption: WHEREAS, in January, 1987, the Hastings City Council asked the Hastings Charter Commission to study the size of the Council committees which presently is established by ordinance at 5 council members; and WHEREAS, the Hastings Charter commission has studied the question of reducing the size of the Council committees. NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Hastings Charter Commission as follows: 7.. The Hastings Charter Commission recommends to the City Council that the size of all Council committees established pursuant to Hastings Charter Sec. 3.09 be limited in size so as not to include a majority of the entire Council. 2. The Hastings charter Commission recommends to the City Council tht the Council enact by axdinance pursuant to Minn. Stat. Sec. 47.0.12 an amendment to Hastings City Charter Sec. 3.09, which amendment shall read as follows: SECTION 3.09. COUNCIL COMMITTEES. The Council may by ordinance, establish committees of the Council and shall set forth the duties of the committees. Said ordinance shall establish a procedure for appointment of Council members to serve on the respective committees, which ordinance shall provide far appointment to the committees by the Mayor, subject to Council approval. The size of each committee shall be established by ordinance, but in no event, shall the size of each committee constitute a majority of the City Council. The foregoing Resolution was seconded by commissioner Johnson and upon being put to a vote, all commissioners present voted in favor of the Resolution.
