“Creating Community Through People, Parks, and Programs”
Date: 4/7/10
To: Parks and Recreation Commission
From: Barry Bernstein, Parks and Recreation Director
Subject: Lions Park
I have received a request from the Raider Nation Baseball Organization to upgrade the
multipurpose ball field at Lions Park.
The upgrades at this time include a permanent scoreboard and temporary dugouts. The
permanent scoreboard, from what I understand, is battery operated and thus does not need
a power source. I have not been informed of the dimensions of the scoreboard at the time
the agenda was sent to the commissioners. The temporary dugouts include wooden
(plywood) sides with shingled roof. The Raider Nation met of the City of Hastings Building
Department to seek approval of the construction plans, but Raider Nation was informed
that the Parks and Recreation Commission will have final approval. I have enclosed a
sketch drawing for your review. This project would be entirely funded by Raider Nation
Baseball with possible assistance from the City to ensure this project meets City standards.
I am seeking approval from the Parks and Recreation Commission to proceed with this
request.
