As part of our budget issues, department heads are considering several budget easing measures and the Parks and Recreation Department is no exception. I have listed some of the proposed possible budget ideas for your information and consideration. Budget expense reductions:  Outside skating rinks – 3 shelters open instead of 5  General budget funding reductions across the board  Reduce the pool’s hours by one hour per day  Reduce the arena operation to 9 months  Reduce or eliminate entirely our commitment to the Joint Powers agreement with the School District  Discontinue the Youth First program  Reduce/eliminate the City reforestation program Budget revenue increases:  Youth participation fee for outside facilities (ball fields/soccer fields)  Charge for use of the disk golf course  Additional tournaments at Vet’s Park  Increase fees for services across the board  Charge for boat launch  Increase advertising at all facilities City staff has been directed to have the 2011 budget figures into the Finance Department by the end of July. If the PRC wishes to discuss any of these or other budget related items, a special meeting may be necessary as the preliminary budget will be submitted prior to the next PRC meeting. Thank you!
