Youth First
On Tuesday, August 3, Youth First volunteers participated with City of Hastings Departments for Night to Unite
and visited several neighborhood gatherings.
Meeting with Dave Osberg and Barry Bernstein regarding Youth First scheduled as a budget cut for 2011. It was
made clear that to continue Youth First and asset building initiatives in the current status outside
donations/grants would be required. Ann and Barry have worked on a letter requesting funding. Meetings have
also been held with supporters and civic groups to determine the viability. Donations are being garnered and
grants are being pursued. Updates will ensue.
Organization and planning for the annual Community Halloween party is underway. This again will be
collaboration between Community Ed, YMCA, Youth First and Parks and Recreation. Requests for donations
from community businesses are being mailed out shortly. We are planning for a large attendance again this year
with last year being over 1,700 attendees; children and parents.
