HomeMy WebLinkAboutPCMinutes-20070709City of Hastings Planning Commission Minutes – July 9, 2007 Page 1 of 2 Hastings Planning Commission July 9, 2007 Regular Meeting 7:00 p.m. Acting Chair Schmitt called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. 1.Roll Call Commissioners Present: McInnis, Peine, Schmitt, Stevens, Truax, Zeyen Commissioners Absent: Hiedeman Staff Present: Planning Director John Hinzman Associate Planner Kari Barker 2.Approval of Minutes – June 25, 2007 Motion by Schmitt to approve the June 25, 2007, meeting minutes. Seconded by Zeyen; motion passed unanimously. Upon vote taken, Ayes 6, Nays 0. Motion passed unanimously. Public Hearings 3.City of Hastings – Site Plan Review #2007-29 – Public Works Garage Expansion – 1225 Progress Drive. Associate Planner Barker gave a staff report. Action by Planning Commission: Motion by Schmitt to approve the Site Plan for a Public Works Garage Expansion. Seconded by Stevens. Upon vote taken, Ayes 6, Nays 0. Motion passed unanimously. 4.Other business Planning Director Hinzman updated the Commission on previous Council activities and upcoming agenda items. One item is a possible rezone to allow for larger lot sizes in the area of Red Wing Boulevard in response to a recent minor subdivision denial. A letter regarding the rezone will be sent to homeowners in the area and further action will follow after responses are received from the homeowners. Chair Truax inquired about the requirements for temporary solicitors. Due to the recent storms, there have been many door-to-door salesmen at homes. Planning Director Hinzman stated that door-to-door salesmen need a temporary peddler’s permit, which can City of Hastings Planning Commission Minutes – July 9, 2007 Page 2 of 2 be obtained through the Administrator’s Office. Door-to-door salesmen without this permit are in violation of the ordinance, which is a misdemeanor offense. 5.Adjournment Zeyen motioned, seconded by Schmitt. Motion passed unanimously.
