HomeMy WebLinkAboutHPCMinutes-20070116HASTINGS HERITAGE PRESERVATION COMMISSION Minutes of the Meeting of January 16, 2007 Hastings City Hall, 7:00 p.m. Quorum: Goderstad, Hicks, Simacek, Warg, Martin, and Hellie present. Staff: Grossman. II. Minutes of December 19, 2006. Hicks moved and Martin seconded approval, motion carried. III. Review of building permits or design proposals 209 Sibley Street - sign design approval. 209 Sibley is in the E Second Commercial Historic District. Size: 33.75 s.f. is less than permitted by the guidelines. Materials: wood board with aluminum surface, painted, with applied vinyl lettering. Painted wood trim strip around edge. The base color is tan, the edge is dark brown, the lettering is dark green, and the ribbon is dark pink. Warg moved and Hicks seconded approval on the grounds that it meets the sign guidelines as described; motion carried, 5 -0. IV. Business A. Elections Goderstad nominated for Chair by Simacek and accepted; there being no other nominations, Goderstad elected 5 -0. Martin nominated for Vice -Chair by Warg and accepted; there being no other nominations, Martin elected 5 -0. B. Annual preservation awards committee. Martin, Hicks, and Hellie volunteered and Sovik- Siemens will be asked if she is willing to continue serving on this committee. C. Comprehensive Plan task force. Representatives of various city commissions are asked to serve on a task force working with the City Planning Director to complete the 2020 Comprehensive Plan. Simacek volunteered and Sovik- Siemens will be asked if she is willing to serve as a co- representative of the HPC. V. Information and Reports Mr. Goderstad asked for help from Commissioners for the May 5 Sesquicentennial house tour. Field Trip to Hastings, National Preservation Conference, Oct. 2007 CLG Grant project: individual designation study and recommendations. Update on Vermillion Street Wall restoration. VI. Adjournment. Martin moved and Warg seconded adjournment; motion carried.
