The original wood siding beneath the aluminum would be retained. The board wanted to know the condition of the original siding underneath the aluminum. They wanted to know the effect of adding the insulation and the new siding product over the original siding as it may project to or beyond the face of the existing original door and window trim. Motion by Hicks, second by Sovik- Siemens to table the application to the next meeting; to ask staff and the owner to provide the information requested; to provide, if the owner agrees, an opportunity to see the original siding; motion carried. KK. 2225 th Street E- Replace porch Columns. Mark O'Brien applied to replace decayed porch posts with fiberglass posts of the same shape but 1 inch larger than existing. The Commission had approved replacement with 8 inch wood posts in July. The owner found that 13 inch wood posts were $200 more than fiberglass and that 8 inch wood posts would be too small to reuse the existing railings. Motion by Hicks, second by Warg to approve 14 inch fiberglass posts; motion carried. LL. City Hall gutters and downspouts — North Entrance. Kurt Stoudt, Facilities Manager, applied to replace the existing gutter and downspout with copper gutter and downspouts on each side of the North porch. Examples were provided. The stonework of the north porch and the window over the door is being replaced. The work has been approved by SHPO. The architect, Rita Goodrich, recommended that the City either continue to use the existing corrugated and painted downspouts, or if copper was preferred, use the round material which would be more appropriate for age of the building, and continue to use the same material as the existing downspouts needed replacement. Staff provided photographs showing round downspouts on the courthouse before 1912. Motion by Hicks, second by Warg to approve copper downspouts with the condition that the same material and design be used for future replacements. IlI. Adjourn. Motion by Behnke, second by Hicks to adjourn; motion carried.
