September 18, 1978
The City Council of the City of Hastings, Minnesota met in a
special meeting on Monday, September 18, 1978 at 7:15 P.M. in the City Hall
for the purpose of canvassing the election returns of the Primary Election
held on Tuesday, September 12, 1978.

Members present: Councilmen Erickson, Trautmann, Fischer, Novak,
Trutna, Karnick, Collins, and Mayor Petersen.
Members absent: Councilman Shannon.
Councilman Trautmann introduced the following resolution and moved
its adoption:
RESOLUTION ON PRIMARY ELECTION
RESOLUTION #191-78
The results of the canvass of notes in the Fourth Ward of
said City for the Primary Election held therein on Tuesday, the 12th
day of September, 1978 be and the same are declared to be as follows:
COUNCILMAN 4TH WARD
Lu Stoffel 204
Richard Bond 167
Robert G. Schommer 133
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council finds from said
canvass that the following listed candidates in the Fourth Ward have
received a plurality of votes in said Ward, and also finds and declares
the following shall be the candidates for such office at the General
Election November 7, 1978.

Councilman Fischer seconded the motion to dopt said r.
and the same was passed by the following vote: Ayes, 7; Nayes,
Pursuant to Chapter 2, Section 3, of the City Charter, the City
Clerk notified the two candidates for the office of Councilman, Fourth
Ward who had received the largest number of votes in the Primary Election,
that their respective names would appear on the General Election Ballot on
November 7, 1978 unless they refused to run. The City Clerk notified the
Mayor, the candidates for the First, Second, and Third Wards that their
respective names would appear on the General Ballot on November 7, 1978
unless they filed a refusal with the City Clerk within two days after
receipt of this notice.
Moved by Councilman Erickson, seconded by Councilman Trautmann to
adjourn the meeting. Ayes, 7; Nayes, none.
