Regular Meeting
7:00 pm
Chairman Anderson called the meeting to order at 7:02 pm.
1. Roll Call
Commissioners Present: Anderson, Hollenbeck, Michno, Truax, and Twedt
Commissioners Absent: Alongi and Greil
Staff Present: Associate Planner Kris Jenson
2. Approve September 9th, 2002 Planning Commission Minutes
With no changes, the minutes were accepted by a unanimous vote.
PUBLIC HEARING - City of Hastings - Zoning Ordinance Amendment #2002-79
to amend Section 10.16, Subd. 2 to allow Planned Residential Developments as a
permitted use in the R-5, High Density Residential District.
Planner Jenson presented background information on the project.
Chairman Anderson opened the public hearing at 7:04 pm. Hearing no public comment, the
public hearing was closed at 7:05 pm.
Commissioner Truax inquired if this was special language for the School House Square
Development.
Planner Jenson responded that this change was City-initiated, but that it would directly affect
the School House Square Project.
Planning Commission Action:
Commissioner Michno moved and Commissioner Hollenbeck seconded a motion to
recommend to the City Council the approval of an amendment to Section 10.16, Subd.
2 to allow Planned Residential Developments as a permitted use in the R-5, High
Density Residential District.
Upon vote taken: Ayes: 5, Nays: 0. Motion carried.
Schumacher Properties, LLC - Site Plan Review #2002-80 to construct storage
building at 600 and 620 Westview Drive.
Planner Jenson presented background information on the proposal.
Commissioner Truax asked how this proposal is affected by the limit on garages at 1,000
square feet.
Planner Jenson responded that she would check into that provision, but that it was intended
for single family residences and not apartment complexes.
Planning Commission Action:
Commissioner Hollenbeck moved and Commissioner Twedt seconded the motion to
recommend approval of the site plan for 600 and 620 Westview Drive to construct a
storage building, subject to the following condition:
1. Approval of a building permit.
Upon vote taken: Ayes: 5, Nays: 0. Motion carried.
