HomeMy WebLinkAbout20180806 - VI-06 City Council Memorandum To: Mayor Hicks & City Council Members From: Ryan Stempski – City Engineer Date: August 1, 2018 Item: Approve Change Order #1 for the 2018-1 Neighborhood Infrastructure Improvements Project COUNCIL ACTION REQUESTED Council is requested to approve the attached change order for the 2018-1 Neighborhood Infrastructure Improvements Project. BACKGROUND INFORMATION The Change Order covers the costs to realign the water main within the intersection of 7th Street and Maple Street to avoid multiple existing utility conflicts that exist underground. This realignment requires installing a vertical offset beneath storm sewer and sanitary pipes, which requires additional labor and materials. FINANCIAL IMPACT The value of the work contemplated by Change Order #1 is an increase of $9,390.00 due to the unforeseen costs of this necessary realignment of the water main. The change order falls within the construction contingency of 5% estimated for this project, therefore does not exceed the planned budget. The total impact of change order to the contract landed at 0.5%.
