HomeMy WebLinkAbout11/12/73MI~-dTES OF THE H~STINGS PI~tNNING COMMISSION MEETING HELD MONDAY~ NOVEMBER 12~ 197S Members Present: Jensen, Hallberg~ Kramer, Soleim, Hirchert, Tanner Linde~ Stoffel Minutes of October 22~ 1973 meeting were approved as amended as follows: 1. Mrs. Stoffel rather than Mrs. Linde first mentioned the problem of Dutch Elm Disease. 2. Mrs. Stoffel and Mrs. Linde indicated tha~ the Soleim Committee should have presented a motion upon which the Commission could act concerning approval or denial of the moving of the Walbridge house to certain property on East 10th Street~ and that the min- utes of the meeting of October 22~ should have included a summary of the discussion therein. Mr. Soleim indicated that the Com- mitteehad studied the matter, they had submitted a report at an earlier meeting~ and that there were no comments made by Mr. Theuer during the two weeks prior to October 22 and that therefore~ the Commission eould not have taken any action at that time. Mr. Soleim further indicated tha~ there had never been a specific request for a specific solution regarding the Walbmidge house relocation~ and that in the absence of such a request the Commission could only study what was presented to it to study. Renaming of Streets in South Hastings: No report by Trautman Committee. Robert Frembgen request for a variance at 1300 Lyn Way to allow con- struction of a fireplace chimney 22 inches near the side yard lot line then would be permitted by the ordinance. Motion Tanner~ Second Soleim to approve the variance. Ail ayes. This approval should be based upon such provisions of Section 12.3.1.2 and Section 12.5.1.4. Smead Manufacturing Company request for a variance to allow construction of a barbed wire fence around additional propane tanks. Matter referred to Soleim Committee. Request from Jim Hoffman~ Wilfred Lehmann and Paul Meiers for a variance to allow construction of a barbed wire fence around a storage area. Mat~er referred to Hallberg Committee. Request by William Gegen for a variance to allow construction of a fire place chimney nearer the set back line than allowed by ordinance. Refermed to Trautman Committee. Motion Stoffel~ Second Linde to establish a Committee to study the preservation of historical structures from an ordinance point of view. Ail ayes. This Committee should inquire of Hastings residents and groups from other cities to determine what might be meeded and what approaches might be available to allow and encourage preservation of historical structures.
