<br />VIII.C.7 <br /> <br />MEMORANDUM <br /> <br />TO: Honorable Mayor and Citi Councllmembers <br />FROI'y1: Dave Osberg, City Administrator <br />DATE: May 29, 2003 <br />SUBJECT: 2003 Police Officers Union Contract <br /> <br />Recommended Cit Counci Action <br /> <br />It is recommended that the City Council take action approving the 2003 Police Officers <br />Union Contract, based on the provisions listed below that would be changed in the <br />contract. Approval of the contract is contingent upon a final vote of the Union <br />membership. <br /> <br />SeQiârtz... Contract language will be included that clarifies the processes for <br />changing shifts under certain circumstances, and the impact of Police Officer seniority. <br /> <br />Overtime/Holidaz. When an employee is called in to work overtime on New Year's <br />Day; Independence Day Holiday; Thanksgiving or Christmas, their compensation shall <br />be at double time. Currently it is at 1.5 times. <br /> <br />Unì;orm Allowance: Uniform Allowance shall be increased from $550.00 per year, to <br />$570.00 per year. Sentence in the contract which reads: "Clothing and equipment <br />purchases shall be subject to approval by the Police Chief', shall be deleted from the <br />contract. <br /> <br />Wages: <br /> <br />Wages shall be adjusted by 3.25% in 2003, effective January 1. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Field Training Officer: Compensatory time for Field Train Officer shall be increased from <br />2 hours to 3 hours for each shift of FTO duties. <br /> <br />While the initial list included various additional items, a series of three -negotiating <br />sessions ha resulted in this reasonable settlement, and. as such, Staff would <br />recomme at the City ouncil take action approving this one year agreement. <br /> <br />
