MINUTES <br />Charter Commission <br />City of Hastings, Minnesota <br />April 9, 1992 <br />Present: Virignia Brown Pat Mathison <br />Denise Kenn Richard Myklebust <br />Tom Novak Michael McCabe <br />Dave Osberg <br />Guests: Shawn Moynihan, City Attorney <br />Barb Thompson, City Clerk <br />Absent: Edith Kaiser <br />Ken Harrington <br />Presiding: Chairperson, Tom Novak <br />ITEMS T & II <br />Ca11 to Order_~ orum: <br />The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by Chairperson Tom Novak <br />and he declared a quorum to be present. <br />ITEM III <br />Approval of Minute: <br />A motion was made by Denise Kehn to approve the minutes of the <br />January 9, 1992 meeting. Seconded by Pat Mathison. Motion carried. <br />ITEM IV <br />ni h B "n <br />1.} Discussion regarding voter turn-out. Barb Thompson stated that <br />988 people voted. She explained that for the next election, direct <br />mailings will be sent out to explain the new polling places <br />(brought about from redistricting). <br />2.) Discussed if anything was going to be sent regarding Mr. <br />Stoneberg. Tom Novak said a card was sent from the Charter <br />Commission. <br />ITEM V <br />New Business: <br />1) Discussion regarding Charter Section 2.04 -Primary Elections <br />Shawn Moynihan explained that tY~is law needs to be amended to <br />be identical to the State law for this year. The State Primary is <br />going to be held on the 15th. According to the Charter's current <br />law, it would be held on the $th this year. To simplify things it <br />was suggested that the date be changed. <br />
