The applicant originally wanted a 3’ by 10’ banner, but
staff discussed the Guidelines with her, which caused her to amend her proposal to a wooden
sign. The proposed sign will be similar to the exiting monument sign. Fortney added that
the projecting sign regulations in the zoning ordinance for downtown are fairly strict and do
not apply to this property, but the HPC may want to use them as a Guidelines for this
property. There are many similarities between this building and site and the downtown. The
Guidelines do not allow signs of plastic and recommend metal or wood.

Commissioner Martin said the applicants did such a great job with the building, which leads
her to believe they will also do a nice job on the sign.
