<br />523 <br /> <br />Hastings, Minnesota <br />June 15, 1970 <br /> <br />The City Council of the City of Hastings, Minnesota met in a <br />regular meeting on Monday, June 15, 1970 at 8:00 o'clock P.M. in the Council <br />Chambers of the City Hall. <br /> <br />Members present: Councilmen Soleim, Novak, Kane, Hallberg, <br />Driscoll, Mayer and Mayor Rotty. <br /> <br />Ii <br />I ' <br />I <br />I <br />\ <br /> <br />Members absent: <br /> <br />Councilmen Christenson and Fischer. <br /> <br />Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. <br /> <br />Moved by Councilman Hallberg, seconded by Councilman Soleim to <br />hold over the second reading of an amendment to an Ordinance entitled "AN <br />ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF HASTINGS, MINNESOTA ESTABLISHING REGULATIONS GOVERN- <br />ING USE OF THE HASTINGS CITY DUMP AND PROVIDING A PENALTY FOR VIOLATION <br />THEREOF" . Aye s, all; Nay s, none. <br /> <br />Councilman Mayer introduced the following resolution and moved its <br /> <br />adoption: <br /> <br />RESOLUTION <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul & Pacific Railroad Com- <br />pany has advised the City of Hastings that said railroad proposes to discon- <br />tinue passenger trains Numbers 1 and 4 which presently service the City of <br />Hastings area and other communities; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, it is the opinion of the City Council of the City of <br />Hastings that the continued operation of these trains so as to continue the <br />service to the City of Hastings arm is extremely desirable; and <br /> <br />f' <br /> <br />WHEREAS, these trains serve colleges in the area and provide trans- <br />portation to the Twin Cities for various major league sports and cultural <br />attractions and theatres; <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED By the City Council of the City of <br />Hastings that the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railroad Company <br />is urged and requested to not disc0ntinue trains Numbers 1 and 4 and that <br />in the alternative, that said trains be continued in operation so that the <br />City of Hastings area will continue to be serviced by them. <br /> <br />Adopted by the City Council this 15th day of June, 1970. <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br /> <br />. <br /> <br /> <br />~1.1! -;1;.'-< J -.. <br />C~ty 1erk <br /> <br />c~ <br />.. ayor <br /> <br />Councilman Driscoll seconded the motion to adopt said'reso1ution <br />and the same was passed by the following vote: Ayes, all; Nays, none. <br /> <br />The City Clerk read two letters from the Police Civil Service <br />Commission, signed by the. Chairman, Ted Riches that having satisfactorily <br />completed the six month probationary period, Alfred Altendorfer be appointed <br />to the permanent rank of Patrolman effective June 15, 1970 and that Russell <br />Sorenson be appointed to the permanent rank of Patrolman effective July 1, <br />1970, both at a monthly wage of $735.00. <br /> <br />r--; <br /> <br />Moved by Councilman Driscoll, seconded by Councilman Kane to <br />approve the Commission's recommendations regarding Alfred A1tendorfer and <br />Russell Sorenson.
