<br />City of Hastings <br />City Council Minutes <br /> <br />March 6, 2006 <br />Page 30t4 <br /> <br />Resolution-Funding for 2006 Water System Improvements and Annual Utility <br />Rate Review and Rate Recommendations <br />Montgomery stated that the construction of a new well, a water treatment plant, <br />trunk watermains to service the well and treatment plan, the 3rd Street trunk watermain <br />and the downtown trunk watermain will result in about $5.6 million in project costs. <br />There is approximately $1.7 million in the WAC fund to pay for these improvements, <br />leaving about $3.8 million to be financed through revenue bonds. The Operations <br />Committee recommends funding the new well, water treatment plan, and new trunk <br />watermains by spreading 25% of the costs throughout the City with a $0.10 water <br />increase and 75% to new development by increasing WAC rates. <br />Montgomery outlined the following rate increases: <br />Water Rates-increase to $1.55/1,000 gallons for a base rate, with a premium rate of <br />$1.95/1,000 gallons for water used over 15,000 gallons. <br />Irrigation Meter Charge-increase the quarterly meter charge <br />Meter Size Current Charae Proposed Charae <br />1" $8.00/quarter $16.00/quarter <br />1 X" $9.00/quarter $18.00/quarter <br />1 Yz" $14.00/quarter $28.00/quarter <br />2" $19.00/quarter $38.00/quarter <br />Wastewater Rates-increase to $2.65/1,000 gallons <br />WAC Fee-increase to $2,465 <br />SAC Fee-increase to $750 <br />Interceptor Sewer-increase to $385 <br /> <br />Montgomery stated that a water surcharge is being added to account for high <br />summer usage.
