<br />Research Method <br /> <br />Population <br />and Sample <br /> <br />Questionnaire <br />Design <br /> <br />Data <br />Collection <br /> <br />This section of the report provides a description of the research method <br />used to conduct the survey, including a description of the population and <br />the sample, questionnaire design, data collection, and data analysis. <br /> <br />The population of interest for this study is people residing in the ZIP <br />code 55033c Anderson-Niebuhr drew an equal probability sample of 350 <br />respondents residing in this ZIP codec This sample size yields results <br />accurate within :t5% with a 95% confidence level when generalizing to <br />the population of households in this geographical area. <br /> <br />To construct the questionnaire, Anderson-Niebuhr met with YMCA <br />representatives to discuss the issues and topics to be addressed. Using <br />information from these meetings, Anderson-Niebuhr prepared a draft <br />questionnaire that was reviewed by the YMCA. <br /> <br />The questionnaire was pretested with a random sample of 15 <br />respondents. Anderson-Niebuhr made recommendations for changes <br />based on the results of the pretest. The questionnaire was revised and <br />finalized in consultation with YMCA representatives. A copy of the <br />questionnaire is included in the Appendix. <br /> <br />, <br /> <br />The survey was conducted using Anderson-Niebuhr's established <br />telephone survey methods. Interviews were conducted using Computer <br />Aided Telephone Interviewing (CATI) software. Data collection occurred <br />from September 19 through October 2, 2000.
