<br />Commissioner Hellie withdrew his first motion and then made a new <br />motion approve a yard light with a painted metal light pole provided that <br />the light bulb could be either sodium or mercury. Commissioner Hicks <br />withdrew her first motion and seconded the new motion. <br /> <br />Upon vote taken, Ayes: 5, Nays 1. Motion passed. Commissioners <br />Hellie, Hicks, Behnke, Martin, and Chairman Goderstad voted aye. <br />Commissioner St. James voted nay. <br /> <br />Commissioner St. James felt a lighting expert needs to give an opinion <br />before action is taken. Grossman thought that information could be <br />provided at the next meeting. <br /> <br />IV. Business. <br /> <br />A. A slide show presentation with th~ buildings that the Commissioners <br />selected as possible candidates for designation at the previous meeting <br />was prepared and presented by Phillips. Grossman went over the <br />guidelines for a rating system which was used to grade each building on <br />both integrity and significance. As the Commissioners went through the <br />slide show they graded each building; the results will further narrow down <br />the candidates for designation. Simacek, Siemens and Warg will be given <br />an opportunity to vote. Phillips will take the results and make a new list <br />and slide show presentation with the best candidates for designation. <br /> <br />V. Information and Reports <br /> <br />A. Annual Preservation Conference, Red Wing, September 28 -29. <br />Grossman reminded the Commission of the event. <br /> <br />B. 106 Second Street East. Joseph Ryan, RJ's Tavern on Main. Phillips <br />informed the Commission that this building has recently been roofed. <br />Roof projects do not need Hastings Heritage Preservation Commission <br />approval. For record keeping purposes an application was sent to Joseph <br />Ryan which will be filled out, returned, and filed. <br /> <br />IV. Adjournment: Martin moved and Behnke seconded adjournment; motion <br />carried. <br />
