MINUTES OF <br /> <br />PLANNING COMMISSION MEETING <br /> <br />MONDAY, JUNE 14, 1976 <br /> <br />7:30 P. M. <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order at 7:30 P.M. <br /> <br />Members present: Linde, Peterson, Biramer, Stoffel, Latch, Fischer, <br /> Glennie and Walker <br /> <br />Members absent: Stark <br /> <br />Student members absent: Stoneberg, Kusske, Fox <br /> <br />Moved by Commissioner Stoffel, seconded by <br />Commissioner Peterson to approve the Minutes <br />of the May 24, 1976 meeting. 8 ayes, 0 nays. <br /> <br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br /> <br />The P[arming Director informed the Planning <br />C~mrnission that he had checked into the possibility <br />of Mr. Wagner buying Ontlot H of Bauer's Znd <br />Addition and trading property with the City. Hastings <br />Construction Co., o~ners of Outlot H, lndkzated <br />that they were not interested in selling the property. <br /> <br />REZONING - WAGNER <br />REALTY ~RED OWL) <br />1104 W. 8TH STREET <br /> <br />The Planning Director informed the Planning Commission <br />that Mr. Wagner had called to indicate that he would <br />not be able to attend the Planning Commission, but did <br />want to express that Wagner Development Company <br />had identified the property west of the Midtown Center <br />as a desirable locat[oz~ for a new Red Owl store and <br />would be willing to pursue this alternative if it was <br />the desire ef the City. <br /> <br />Mr. Bob Swanson of Industrial Builders and Mr. <br />Crowley, representing Red Owl, Inc., appeared <br />before the Planning Commission to inform the <br />Cornrnission of a meeting which took place on Friday, <br />June ll, 1976. Mr. Swanson indicated that they had <br />discussed with Red Owl the possibility of constructing <br />ZZ, 000 - 25, 000 square foot grocery store on a block <br />west of the existLng Red Ow1 store. If Red Owl was to <br />construct a store at that location, the present tenants <br />would be allowed to expand their stores, the existing <br />parking could be expanded, and general improvements <br />made to the present structures Lm the Midtown shopping <br />area. Mr. Crowley indicated that Midtown is an ideal <br />location for a grocery store and they wish to pursue the <br />Midtown site for development o[ a new store. <br /> <br /> <br />
