MINUTES CF HASTINGS PLANNING COMIvIIssICI~I MEETING <br /> <br />HELD THURSDAY, NOVEMBER la. 1970 <br /> <br />At a special meeting of the Plannin§ Commission and City Council called <br />for 7:00 P.M. on November 12, 1970, the following were present: <br /> <br />Clarence Soleim, Ed Fischer. Leonard Bauer, Frank <br />Sieckel't, Crvin Moen, Donald Fluegel, Ray Driacoll; <br />John Davidson, Sos Novak, Al Sieben and Ben Sontal~ <br /> <br />The first i~em of discussion was the Sontag plat: It was pointed out that there <br />had been previous approval by the t~lannini~ Commission of the general plat <br />layout, Sontag wanted the'final approval, on 15 lots which is the maximum <br />number of Iota that can be .~erved until there is an extension of the trunk <br />sewer in the area. The plat is known aa "Sontag's First Addition" and <br />involved I$ lots on either aide of Brittany Road north of 15th Street. Moved <br />by Fluegel, 'seconded by Sieckert and unanimously Carried: Approve Sontag% <br />First Addition and recommend approval to the Council. " <br /> <br />Al Sieben stated that he plans to go ahead with his four-pinx at Eddy and <br />15th Street. Davidson noted that the structure size had been reduced to a' <br />building of 24 feet 8 inches by 68 feet. It is pre.sently zoned 1t-3. It also <br />would be in a R-3 zone under the proposed zoning ordinance. Moved by <br />Fischer, seconde~! by Mosn and unanimously carried: Approve building <br />permit for four-plex on this location. <br /> <br />Zoning Ordinance: A page by page review was made of the-zoning ordinance <br />as revised by the City Engineer and City Attorney.. <br /> <br />C-4 Zoning: The City Engineer and City Attorney are to come up w~th the <br />specifications for C-4 zoning. This shall include a provision that a C-4 zone <br />must be adequately buHered from single families in residential areas by <br />either high density uae or by landscaping approved by the City Council. <br /> <br />The next item was the Sis/fei - Hy-De-Hy property on Highway 55. It <br />was noted that the use presently made ia technically industrial as opposed <br />to commercial. Motion was made by Fiacher~ seconded by Bauer that the <br />strip b~ zoned R-~ by the new ordinance an,~ that the present uses be <br />designated as non-conforming. On a voice vote the chair stated that he wa~ <br />in doubt.. Further discussion ensued. As a result of the further discussion~ <br />a committee of the group was to contact Mr. S~offe[ and explain to him the <br />various alternatives available and. determine what his wishes were with <br />regard to the property. The various alternatives along with Stoffel's pre- <br />£erences would then be presented to the Council at the second reading. <br /> <br /> <br />
