Mike McMenomy <br />Non-Emergency: ..................................... 651-480-2300 <br />Emergency: ...............................................911 <br /> <br />The Hastings Police Department is in the process of accepting applications for Hastings <br />~ residents who are interested in working with the Hastings Police Department and serving the <br />: os;: City of Hastings by becoming a member of the Hastings Police Reserve organization. <br />~~ <br />Os;: ~ Members of the police reserve unit volunteer hours to assist the Police Department at various <br />:J tIl City functions and events such as Rivertown Days, Hastings High School football and hockey <br />~ ~ games, the Gobble Gait Run, and many other community events. Members of the reserve <br />0= program can also participate in "ride-alongs" with Hastings police officers during their regular <br />U cl: work shifts. The Police Department provides training to reserve members in various aspects of <br />L <br />:J ~ the law enforcement profession. <br />~~ <br />~ E If you are interested in becoming a member of the Police Reserve Unit, please stop by the <br />[: 8 Police Department during regular business hours (Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.--4:30 p.m.) and <br />~ ~ obtain an police reserve application. Mike Munson at 651-480-2300. <br /> <br /> <br />City Ordinance Section 8.09, <br />Subdivision 2 concerning Declaration of <br />an Emergency, states that "snow <br />emergency conditions will exist and will <br />automatically go into effect whenever the <br />snowfall is measured at two or more <br />inches of snow." The amount of snowfall <br />to determine a snow emergency is <br />measured in the City of Hastings. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The City's Street Department supervisory personnel will declare a snow <br />emergency and will then notify the Hastings Police Department. Following <br />a declaration of a snow emergency, the City will then notify local news <br />media and request their assistance in giving notice to the community <br />and its motorists. <br /> <br />All vehicles must be removed from City streets within two hours after a <br />snow emergency has been declared and gone into effect. Cable Channel <br />12 or KDWA 1460 AM should have information regarding a snow <br />emergency. <br /> <br />During a snow emergency, it is unlawful to park or leave standing, any <br />vehicle upon any street until the street has been cleared of snow to its <br />full width on both sides of the street or until such time as the emergency <br />conditions have been remedied. If a vehicle has been left on the street <br />after the snow emergency has been declared, it may be subject to being <br />ticketed and also towed to allow City Street Department personnel the <br />ability to remove the snow. It is the vehicle owners responsibility to pay <br />the towing/storage cost to get a vehicle out of the impound lot <br />. if it has been towed. <br />
